Korg MS2000 Editor Intro
Korg MS2000 Editor & Librarian is designed to control your Korg MS2000 / Korg MS2000R right from your DAW. With our Editor, you can work with your Korg MS2000 / MS2000R by the same way you use your virtual instrument plug-ins. Our Editor will recall your patch settings when you open your project and the data will be sent to your MS2000 / MS2000R automatically once you open your project. Your synthesizer is always synchronized with your session! The only thing you need to worry, is that you power-up your synthesizer.
Faster workflow
Korg MS2000 Editor brings hardware integration to modern Digital Audio Workstation environments. Korg MS2000 Editor & Librarian plug-in works seamlessly with your Korg MS2000 and/or Korg MS2000R synthesizers.
It is now much faster to scroll thru sounds and make tweaks within your DAW. Automate parameters with real hardware control names. The best part is, our Editor saves all the data within the project and when you reopen the project, all of the used data gets sent to your hardware, automatically! No more waiting with loading or transferring hardware data. Save time – welcome Total Recall.
- Control your Korg MS2000 and/or MS2000R directly from your DAW.
- Automate almost every parameter directly from your DAW.
- No need to remember CC’s for each knobs / per synthesizer. Goodbye sticky notes!
- Load, Edit and Store patches into hardware memory or in your HDD personal library.
- Randomize upper or lower layer or both!
- Store any MS2000 / microKorg compatible soundset in your HDD library folder and browse it from our editor.
- Send banks or individual patches from librarian to hardware.
- Request banks or individual patches from hardware to librarian.
- Total Recall: When you reopen your project, all of the data used in it, will be sent to the hardware, automatically!
Check Specifications tab for more info about the Editor capabilities.
Realistic Bi-directional Graphical User Interface
Our graphical user interface design has been made to make everything from sound design to patch editing as smooth as possible. When you move a slider, push a button or twist a knob in your hardware, software will respond at appropriate layer/part.
Use sections locks with Randomizer function to create complex sounds while keeping the best settings untouched.
Save time, as all the edits are stored within the project, so once the project is opened up again, Total Recall will send the data to hardware automatically.
Patch data management
Korg MS2000 Editor comes with ability to control Timbre 1 or Timbre 2 data from the single plug-in instance. This means, you can have a lush lead patch on timbre 1 and a sub bass on timbre 2 if you wish.
You can send patches from Librarian Browser to your selected Layer:
- Click Timbre 1 on TIMBRE SELECT section and double click a patch on the librarian to send the patch to the selected layer.
- Click Timbre 2 on TIMBRE SELECT section to send another patch for current layer, simple as that!
Korg MS2000 Editor and Automation
With FULL version of Korg MS2000 Editor & Librarian, you can automate almost every parameter right from your DAW without having to remember all of the MIDI CC’s.This can be done easily by setting your DAW automation to Write or Latch mode and then turning the knob from the hardware or the plug-in.
Some of the SysEx parameters are not available due to a lot bandwidth taken from the MIDI cable.
Check DAW Config Guides tab below to learn more about DAW Automation.
Screenshots
What you CAN do with our Editor:
- Control your Korg MS2000 hardware synthesizer from your DAW over MIDI.

- Automate almost every parameter in your DAW.
- Easier to handle automations than trying to remember hundreds of #CC’s.
- Changing timbre from plugin changes timbre in hardware and vice versa.
- Layer multiple patches to create massive leads or such.
- Parameters that are available for automation will be listed on your DAW. (Ableton Live can’t see our parameters, until you touch a knob / button).
- Total Recall of the sounds used up on project reload.
- All of the current parameters from the plugin will be sent to the hardwares temp memory up on project reload!
- Time saver when thinking about storing, naming and loading data from multiple hardwares per project.

- Store patches to your MS2000 from the librarian.
- Request banks from your MS2000 to the librarian.

- Transmit any audio. You have to plug your Synthesizers audio jacks into your mixer in order to hear the sound.
- You can not remotely start and / or shut down your Synthesizer.
Operating system specified settings / limits:
Windows limitations
Since Windows platform CAN NOT share resources between applications, it is important that you disable the MIDI input and output from your DAWs settings which you are intending to use with our Editor. If you leave the port open, our Editor will see it and once you click to use it, it might crash your DAW and you will lose your data. Link down below!
macOS limitations
macOS works “out from the box” with resource sharing, you are good to go once you insert the plugin into your DAW. However, our plugin can cause you a MIDI loop if you leave the port open / unfiltered from your hardware to your DAW. You can set various filters in your DAW.
Requirements:

No, i haven’t forgotten ro review your software. I just thought it was pointless to spend my precious time beta testing a software that i am told that it needs a 50€ plus midi interface to work. Saying that is just silly. It doesn’t work on my mac, on my pc, or on any of my vst hosts. I’ve asked you for older versions of the software, never got them, because it seems that only a 50€ midi interface makes it work. This is my review for the ms2000 plugin. I didnt even bothered to test the Virus vst. But i bet that one works a with cheap chinese midi interface. I’m not wasting more time on this software, I’ve already wasted my money.

Cannot establish a connectionBetween DAW and Hardware. I use ableton live and a new MOTU Midi Express 128. Doesn`t even works with a MIDIMAN2x2 and a Focusrite 3rd Gen Midi System.

Not ready for primetime. Had to buy another librarian as the Korg MS2000 is fairly useless until this programmer fixes all the issues. Does not work in all DAW as advertised. Need to make a aax compatible plugin forget trying to use it in Pro Tools.

A bit too soon to make a proper review knowing the current issues with it. Looking forward for bug corrections and improvements to make it as good as the NL2XR plugin.

Fan-bloody-tastic. Makes flying through the settings on my MS2000 a doddle, and setting up the mod sequencer is so easy with all Mod Sequencers visible on the screen at once. Poifection.

The tool is easy to install and works straightaway with minimum fuss for configuring, I could import my libraries in to it and now my MS2000 is a total recall machine in my projects and I’m a very happy camper 🙂

I would prefer a stand alone editor, mind you I’m not sure if it can already be used outside the daw. As I find it more convenient for me, I do run a few laptops though. All my hardware is run like that all I send is the midi to play them, I think it helps with stability as my gear ranges from late eighties to this year and I really cannot remember the last midi issue I had and I regularly run ten plus units. Your product though has reinvigorated what is my first and favourite keyboard.
Thank you.

Very useful utility with a great UI ! In the next update, if possible, I would like (1) to be able to run MS2KxR in standalone mode without a VST host, and (2) to be able to save from MS2KxR to hard disk (in .syx format) individual patches, columns or rows of patches, or entire patchbanks.

I’ve ordered the MS2KxR editor in order to control and re-assign my patches.
Unfortunately there’s been quite some problems with the editor resulting in a number of crashes of my 64 bit DAW.
The main problem is that when I’m trying to download all my current patches to the editor in order to back it up a number of errors occur. If I download with “All Programs” within the plugin it won’t react, The MS2000 gives the message that it’s sending data but the editor clearly does not receive or change it’s state. Due to this error I was forced to transfer the patches one by one with “Single Program”. With this option most patches were transferred but a specific number of patches (6 out of 64) were not, even after trying many different ways.
Finally when I’m trying to save this bank it saves to a sysex file but can’t be read again by the editor. The file does exist in explorer but won’t show up in the libraries (even after rebooting plugin and DAW).
Also it’s strange that the midi settings of this VST plugins can’t be saved and when I reopen a recorded song the midi settings (Midi in-out) are gone must be set again.
These points together with the number of unexplanable crashes of my DAW working with this editor in combination with the MS2000B makes me wonder if this VST plugin is fully tested and ready for use

works fine , does not
works fine, does not need much tune, up to run (but the registration is not obvious 🙂 . Useful extra presets. the sequencer interface is more user-friendly as the hardware one.

Tweaking my external MS2kR got so much faster!
Before I purchased a copy of the KorgMs2000 I played around with the demo version. And quickly realized that being able to tweak my external gear in my Sequencer is totally awesome. I do have one feature request for future updates. Implementing the function to sync the hardware knobs value with the software knobs value? Let me explain more in detail what I mean. On the hardware when I tweak for example the CUTOFF. And lets assume the value is 50. But the software has a value of 80 on preset/plug in load. Once the preset is loaded they won’t sync. The hardware will override the value in the VST as soon as I tweak it. A kind of if-statement that checks the input of the software with the output of the hardware unit. If(hardware value == softwarevalue); If not then wait till hadwarevalue == softwarevalue

Korg MS2KxR AudioUnit & VSTi Librarian Editor
after a slightly shaky start getting to know the editor I am now comfortable using it & have the editor talking nicely to my rack synth & also the controls on my rack synth are reflected by movements in the software. I am using the AU version in my DAW Presonus Studio One 3.0 connecting through a Motu MTP AV midi hub. the only problem I have found at this stage is the arpeggiator controls in the editor don’t seem to effect any change in my hardware, so I’m not sure why that is. I am yet to understand how to properly load & save patches using the librarian, but I haven’t spent much time on that yet. the support I have received so far (regarding my licence key) has been prompt. I understand a manual will be released along with the next update, but at this stage I have told to refer to the virushc plugin manual.
