Waldorf Blofeld Editor Intro
Waldorf Blofeld Editor & Librarian is designed to control your Waldorf Blofeld right from your DAW. With our Editor, you can work with your Waldorf Blofeld by the same way you use your virtual instrument plug-ins. Our Editor will recall your patch settings when you open your project and the data will be sent to your Blofeld automatically once you open your project. Your synthesizer is always synchronized with your session! The only thing you need to worry, is that you power-up your synthesizer. We also added the ability to load in Waldorf microQ and Q patches! (WHAT? Yes!)
Faster workflow
Waldorf Blofeld Editor brings hardware integration to modern Digital Audio Workstation environments. Waldorf Blofeld Editor & Librarian plug-in works seamlessly with all Waldorf Blofeld Keyboard / Waldorf Blofeld Desktop synthesizers.
It is now much faster to scroll thru sounds and make tweaks within your DAW. Automate parameters with real hardware control names. The best part is, our Editor saves all the data within the project and when you reopen the project, all of the used data gets sent to your hardware, automatically! No more waiting with loading or transferring hardware data. Save time – welcome Total Recall.
- Control Waldorf Blofeld desktop / Blofeld Keyboard synthesizer directly from your DAW.
- Automate almost every parameter directly from your DAW.
- No need to remember CC’s for each knobs / per synthesizer. Goodbye sticky notes!

Realistic Bi-directional Graphical User Interface
Our graphical user interface design has been made to make everything from sound design to patch editing as smooth as possible. When you move a slider, push a button or twist a knob in your hardware, software will respond at appropriate layer/part.
Use sections locks with Randomizer function to create complex sounds while keeping the best settings untouched.
Save time, as all the edits are stored within the project, so once the project is opened up again, Total Recall will send the data to hardware automatically.

Patch and Multi mode management
Waldorf Blofeld Editor comes with ability to control all 16 parts from the single plug-in instance. This means, you can have a different patches on different layers and play them at the same time, or individually.
You can send patches from Patch Librarian to your selected Part:
- Click any PART and double click a patch on the librarian to send the patch to the selected part.
- Click different PART to send another patch for different part, simple as that!
Waldorf Blofeld Editor and Automation
With FULL version of Waldorf Blofeld Editor & Librarian, you can automate almost every parameter right from your DAW without having to remember all of the MIDI CC’s.This can be done easily by setting your DAW automation to Write or Latch mode and then turning the knob from the hardware or the plug-in.
Some of the SysEx parameters are not available due to a lot bandwidth taken from the MIDI cable.
Check DAW Config Guides tab below to learn more about DAW Automation.

macOS limitations
macOS works “out from the box” with resource sharing, you are good to go once you insert the plugin into your DAW. However, our plugin can cause you a MIDI loop if you leave the port open / unfiltered from your hardware to your DAW. You can set various filters in your DAW.

It does work decently, it does what it says it does however it is not the smoothest experience. I suppose that comes down to the actual hardware of the Blofeld. If you want to properly organize your patches it is pretty much a necessity.
I"m realy impressed by the work around this control plugin for blofeld. It opens the full potential of the synth. Some sysex message can cause "latency" or litle "freeze" of the blugin (not the sound) and it's normal. But every CC controls of the synth engine are realy responsives even with multis. I'm really happy to use it and have the possibilty to create layers or multi part in one instance of the blugin. Great work.
Just came out of an ugly experience with a Blofeld editor librarian of another software house, that is stuck to a version older than two years and doesn't open on MacOs Ventura as it didn't open in Monterey's as well, and no AU plugin for it, only VST !. So it's easy to see how happy I am to have found a piece of software that finally works as it suppose to, just this mere fact is refreshing I would say. It is efficient, logically well laid out and has a plugin in AU format so I can use it within Logic. Life is good

Well, we hope the version 2024 will fix the usage “issue”. There are a lot more issues with the current to-date version, but those are polished off as well.

Question
Jan K. (verified owner) –
Hi, I got this editor and everything works ok except for the tempo. I cannot get the editor to change the internal tempo of the blofeld, I turn the knob in the editor and nothing changes in the blofeld. When I try to change the tempo manually on the blofeld, the knob on the editor does turn sometimes as I move the blofeld encoder, but on the blofeld it says “receiving syses” abd then pops back to the default tempo of 120. So as of now I cannot use this editor properly as I cannot change the tempo of the blofeld and therefore cannot use the Arpeggiator at all. Please advise!
Was this helpful? 0 0 Watch Unwatch Report
Jani K. –
Hi, Tempo parameter is “baked in” in a larger multi sysex chunk, therefore it can not follow tempo changes from DAW in realtime. The SysEx package itself is so big that it would constantly disturb the the note timing and what not. Best option is to send MIDI clock from your DAW to your Blofeld while Blofeld clock is synced to external source and not internal tempo.

This plugin doesn’t work well. It does what it says it does, but every time you open it you have to set it up, which drains your time and creativity. There is no manual. You might think ‘meh I’m pretty good with this type of stuff, I’m sure I’ll be fine’. No you won’t be. This is a big plugin and it needs a manual. The user needs to know, when stuff doesn’t work as it is supposed to, if it is because he is doing things wrong or because of a bug. No support. No refunds. I regret having paid 50‚Ǩ for this. 50‚Ǩ is a lot of money for a vst, when you pay this amount you expect a fully working vst. Not something that clearly was done with a lot of hours of work but that is still unfinished. Oh and also, it has messed up all my multi names. Now they all begin with ‘;’ instead of the first letter. Not happy at all.

Wayback in the day I purchased the access virus plug-in from your company and it turned out to be an amazing educational tool at our studio teaching sound design. It brought out many of the features under the hood of that beautiful Synthesizer. This allowed us to understand that synthesizer on a different level because of the continuity of how the plug-in works.
I think we lost that Synthesizer due to damage / fire or something like that.
Here we are in 2021 on an 8 core I-9 Mac. We operate under Big Sur on this device and the Waldorf plug-in is a little clunky. Whereas the previous plugin I ran on windows 10 as we had a dedicated computer that controlled all the plug-ins and directly connected into the synthesizers for sound design.
I was sad to figure out that there was no manual. No support from the company, and my contact at the company years ago who use respond to me now just ignores me I feel.
Your plug-in seems to be a one to one ratio of computer control to hardware functionality adjustment.
Well this is really good however because the Waldorf doesn’t allow you to modulate and automate the effects inside of the DAW via Midi… maybe you could add extra features inside of the plug-in for bridging the gap. Also the blofeld arpeggiator has to be manually set.
I noticed sometimes that the state of the plug-in as it was last saved in Ableton live 11 Big Sur, the latest.. doesn’t always reappear as it was in its previous state. Some information is lost.
I find it difficult click one button on the plug-in and dump the complete memory in an organized fashion into some buffer or some thing that allows me to back up and save really quick. I had to go each of the banks 1 by 1 and save them..
So too many intermediate steps to do one function.
On the good side I was able to see the insides of the Waldorf design as well as start editing patches really quick.
The top and lower part on your patch library and it’s sort of handy if you really know how to use that when creating your own custom sounds sets.
The functionality so far of the plug-in does allow me butter access and creativity than the synth itself because of the limitations of the GUI, and user experience of the synthesizer.
I had purchased another plug-in from a company called Reakon… we couldn’t even get into install the author apologize and refund us the money.
So you can see I’m a lot better off than I was. And I’m grateful to be able to have the functionality and I do have because I’m able to use everything I’ve learned with the Synthesizer on its own together on a different medium/display for better use.
From being creative director at the studio where I work it’s split on the creative side / sound design / music composition to industrial design/CAD of hardware.
I also beta test software and hardware synthesizers I’m a user interface specialist as well as ergonomics.
Thank you for this opportunity to purchase your products. I have a Dave Smith Prophet rev2,Pro 3Se, Minilog XD, Model: Cycles… elektron ARMKII, Digitone keys, deep mind 12, matrixBrute.
I have researched all of the developers for editors, each of these developers are subpar compared to your companies design. Your workflow actually beat the pants off everybody else on certain levels.
These are all very popular synthesizers. I also suggest porting yourself over to iOS.
That would be a game changer and would open you up to additional sales and revenue from the growing market.
Synthesizers are way more popular then they were five years ago and seven years before that we saw the beginning of the second wave of the synthesizer renaissance. We are still so far away from the bubble right now your upper trajectory mixed with your current position is one of the best opportunities in the marketplace for this type of application.
Thank you for your time Darien Daniel

Hi, I sent you an email (weeks ago) just after install (with few important questions for me) but, no feedback. Ok, if that’s politics… The install process was not so handy (something weird at a moment) Seems to work, I didn’t do a full test yet, hope to do it soon. It’s a clever librarian/editor, but if the contact with you it’s for nothing, maybe in the future I will check for something else. Best Stefan

After my reKon Audio Blofeld editor became abandonware, I had been keeping my eye out for a replacement. Pleased to find BloX fits the bill, and is definitely a better product. It isn’t without its bugs and quirks, but it sure beats designing sounds with the Blofeld’s limited knobs and trying to manage projects with the built in multi presets. A good editor can breath new life into an old synth. I look forware to updates to BloX that should improve the product over time.

It sometimes has issues syncing full banks. It then produces lots of clicking sound during bank-upload and the bank is not updated at all and/or garbage-settings all over the place are the result. This happens with two different Blofelds (Desktop and Keys. both FW 1.25).
Some settings are set to counterintuitive defaults, too. E.g. the filter’s key-follow being 100% per default or the oscillator-panning being “middle” by default. This largely differs from the default Blofeld behaviour.
When the Midi-IO is blocked (because I forgot to free the ports within the DAW) it randomly crashes (most of the time) or misbehaves in absurd ways (rarely). Other plugins keep being stable in this case… So, yes, this is really annoying.
Over all it’s beautiful and “Ok” to use.
Top 1 on the wishlist: Stability!
Top 2 on the wishlist: Stability!!
Top 3 on the wishlist: The capability to upload user-wavetables.

I think it is useful to save the patches that you create but some controls are not recognized by the hardware an when you record automation, the buffering blocks functions of the plugin and the DAW. Not very reliable to use live.

The editor is great but I noticed some bugs, which I submitted to JIRA on your website (which is now removed from public unfortunately, so I cannot track my tickets any longer). I also didn’t receive ANY replies to pre-sales inquiries I sent via the form on your website, which I find not nice, especially when on the website it says ‘we’re almost always available’. Well, I tried contacting you for two months without a reply. Nice!

I think that the current version 102 is a beta version.
Without manual and documentation on operation it is not practically usable.
Very nice but not intuitive interface. Menu functions poor and incomplete.
I hope in a real and complete version asap.

Great UI and very useful Blofeld editor that saves hours of menu diving. However, it’s hard to set up correctly as a VST plugin in your DAW if you also want to send MIDI track messages to the Blofeld, because MIDI port clashes can cause your DAW to crash.

I think it’s a fine program but a good manual would help me to setup my daw and programme. Until now i only get error messages .

Blox has the abilities that I need to act as a patch librarian, to see what I have on my Blofeld and to upload patches from various sources.
The problem has been that there is no real manual on how to use Blox, I have to guess what things do and risk losing the patches I have, I don’t know what some terms and abreviations mean or what they do. There isn’t a ‘help’ facility or a summary of the controls. This is not what I expected for my money. The website has its information scattered all over it, some sections are in another language.

You’re thinking about your blofeld for sale because you don’t like the OG? Rethink everything again and look at this editor more closely.
Since the new update I have no more crashes, and now… multimode pure;-)
Thanks for this editor
